Motorsport Technical School Launches U.S. Operations in Indianapolis, Strengthening Indy’s Global Racing Identity

Indianapolis has long been celebrated as the Racing Capital of the World. Now, that reputation is further solidified with the arrival of Motorsport Technical School (MTS), a premier Italian-based motorsports training institution, establishing its first U.S. campus in our city.

Founded in 2011 in Monza, Italy, MTS has been Europe's premier training ground for aspiring motorsport professionals. The school boasts a 90%+ placement rate for racing mechanics and data analysts, with graduates working in top-tier racing series like Formula 1, MotoGP, and IndyCar.

Strategic Location in Indianapolis

MTS's new campus is strategically located on Indianapolis' northwest side near 62nd and Guion, in close proximity to renowned racing team offices such as Conquest, McLaren, Chip Ganassi Racing, Andretti, and Ed Carpenter Racing. This location provides students with unparalleled access to the heart of America's motorsports industry.

Hands-On, Specialized Training Programs

MTS offers two specialized tracks:

  • Racing Mechanics: Students receive comprehensive training in vehicle setup, aerodynamics, electronics, and other technical aspects critical to optimizing performance on the track. The program emphasizes communication and teamwork, preparing students for the high-pressure race day environment.

  • Data Acquisition: This track focuses on electronics, transmission systems, wiring, and data analysis. Students gain practical, pit-side experience working on real racecars, learning how to ensure the car and data are synchronized to aid engineers in making informed decisions.

Classes are intentionally kept small—capped at 30 students for mechanics and 12-15 for data analysis—to ensure personalized attention and hands-on experience. Training takes place in classrooms, pit areas, and on the track, using industry-grade equipment and materials.

Empowering the Next Generation

MTS is a woman-owned and founded institution, led by Eugenia Capanna, a professional driver and racing team manager. The school's expansion into Indianapolis not only reinforces our city's global motorsports connections but also contributes directly to workforce development and industry diversification.

Classes meet on weekends to accommodate students balancing other commitments, with each semester lasting eight weeks. Tuition can be paid through a payment plan, and MTS is currently exploring financial aid options to help more students enroll.

Looking Ahead

MTS Indianapolis began enrolling students in May, with a second round of classes starting in August. The school plans to expand its programs and deepen its engagement with local racing teams, automotive employers, and educational partners.

Indy Economic Development applauds MTS’s investment and looks forward to watching this exciting new venture accelerate careers and innovation in Indianapolis.

Welcome to Indy, MTS. Let's build the future of motorsports—together.
