Kimball Electronics Expands to Indianapolis, Creating 345 New Jobs
Indianapolis is set to welcome a major expansion in its advanced manufacturing and life sciences sectors. Jasper-based Kimball Electronics has announced plans to open a new 307,000-square-foot contract manufacturing facility focused on the medical industry, bringing 345 new jobs to the city over the next six years.
The company will lease space in the Commerce Center Building 1, a newly constructed industrial facility located at 1220 South Post Road on the city’s east side. The new operation is part of Kimball Electronics’ strategic focus on healthcare and medical technologies.
“Kimball Electronics’ investment highlights the strengths of Indianapolis as a center for innovation, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing,” said Jim Schellinger, President & CEO of Indy Economic Development. “This project is a testament to our city’s momentum and the partnerships that make these transformative investments possible.”

This investment will not only bolster Kimball’s healthcare manufacturing capabilities but will also significantly contribute to job creation and economic vitality in one of Indy’s key commercial corridors.
Collaborative Economic Development
Indy Economic Development worked alongside the City of Indianapolis and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) to support this project from early engagement through the local incentive process. The successful alignment of real estate readiness, workforce availability, and strategic industry growth made Indianapolis the ideal choice for Kimball’s expansion.
Why Indianapolis?
Kimball’s decision reinforces Indy’s status as a nationally competitive location for business expansion and advanced manufacturing—especially in the rapidly growing medical device and healthcare technology sectors. The region’s central location, strong talent pipeline, and collaborative business environment continue to attract high-growth companies from across Indiana and beyond.
